:: Meet the Caste
Gabe is
the angel Gabriel of course, who for all intents and purposes seems like
a friendly waiter at the local coffee house. He acts as a guide and
mentor to the kids’ misadventures.
Ben is an
all-star type, good shape, good looking young man who excels
academically, his parents are very wealthy professionals, who lead very
demanding lives, and perhaps they are politicians or doctors or lawyers.
They pressure Ben to do well academically and he feels very pressured by
them to do well, this regimented life and lack of loving contact with
his family is what leads him to drink sometimes or smoke pot or and be
tempted by sex etc. He is a study in fractured discipline. His turning
to Christ will turn him not only into a more effective leader, but him
and his parents will come to a more compassionate state of mind and
spirit by the end of the series.
Annie’s parents are also wealthy professionals, but she always sees them
separately, they are not speaking, they are worldly individuals who lead
sinful lives, and they make power plays between themselves using Annie
as a pawn. She is very beautiful, and, as a result, very objectified and
idolized by everyone. This has led to her having an “I can do no wrong”
attitude, which of course leads her to all kinds of temptation. Her
growth will be evident of her new awareness of other people’s feelings
and the consequences of her actions.
Tom
is an artistic type, well read and intellectual, he has an argument for
anything, he can be the fast-talking instigator of a lot of the trouble
the kids can get into, and he has a great sense of humor and is very
affable. Tom was raised by a single mother who is very devout and loves
him a lot, but she works two jobs and is rarely home, so Tom has had to
basically raise himself. He seems very confident on the surface but
underneath suffers from self-esteem issues. He loves people but always
finds a hard time seeing value in himself. He will grow to a greater
understanding of the value of actions based on faith.
:
Maggie is a quiet young girl, her parents are very poor, simple working
class folks who are very devout Christians as well, they aren’t very
educated themselves and they do fully realize that their young daughter
is a mathematical genius. She wants to go to college but for her
parents, it’s not a realistic premise. As a result, Maggie ventures into
temptation as an act of rebellion. Her story would focus on the problems
many parents are facing with their children growing up with modern
education and technology. Maggie will realize that God has a way she can
approach her dreams and goals without having to openly rebel against her
parents and God.
Vanessa
is a new transfer from New Orleans, smart beyond her years and
mysterious about her past.
Gabrielle "Gabby" Alvarado: Chrissie is Ben's younger sister who learns the
hard way
Stan Pittman: Principal Adams
